This Android specific error message can appear whenever the app renderer has trouble displaying the ebook. This can either be an issue with the renderer itself, or an issue with the formatting within the ebook file, or even sometimes the file can be damaged during download.
Sometimes the underlying issue has already been fixed and can be resolved by updating your app.
Please first try updating the Ebook Reader app by visiting the Google Play store and checking for an update (or if you are using a Kindle Fire click here)
Once you have done this please then also try to update the app called "Android System WebView". This is used by the renderer to correctly display the html within EPUB ebooks. This is the most common cause of this error message. If you are a Kindle Fire user unfortunately Amazon packages the WebView in to their operating system updates, so please perform a firmware update if possible.
Finally, try deleting the ebook from your Ebook Reader bookshelf and redownload the ebook. Even if you were unable to update either of the above apps this is worth doing as it can fix an ebook that may have been damaged during download.
If you still receive the same error, then please contact our support team. Please state you have already tried the steps above. We need to know which of your ebooks is affected, and your operating system version number and your Ebook Reader app version number.
We will then test the download, and the ebook file. If the ebook has an issue we will request a corrected file from the publisher. If the ebook is not at fault then the developers then need to investigate further. This can take some time, so if at all possible we ask customers to try downloading the ebook to an alternative ebook app in the meantime.
