eBooks.com sells books in different formats. One of them is an online format - meaning you read the book online in the same web browser you used to purchase your ebook. No software installation, no fuss, available on any device with an internet browser.
To display the contents of your ebooks online, we use our own browser-based Online Reader. You don't need to download any software in order to use Online Reader because the reader allows your books to just open up inside the same browser you use to surf the web. It is compatible with all major browsers: Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and Opera. Please note you also need to have Javascript enabled in order for the reader to operate.
This reader can be used on any computer (or mobile device) with an internet connection, anywhere in the world. Our Online Reader is unique to eBooks.com, and we were the first online bookstore to allow our readers to read entire books online.
If you want to ty the Online Reader before you buy you can visit https://reader.ebooks.com and click on "Explore the Reader" to open a sample ebook in the reader to test it out. If you want to preview what a specific ebook looks like in our Online Reader you can visit the product page on eBooks.com and click on the cover image (or the preview link below the cover) to see a limited portion of the ebook in Preview mode. Some publishers have no enabled Previews for their ebooks.
Online Reader ebooks do not have to be purchased separately, and you will have access to the Online Reader version with the purchase of your ebook. Depending on the view you have selected for your My Bookshelf page, either click on the ebook cover image, or click the 'Read Now' or 'Read' button. Then on the next screen click 'Read Online' to open your ebook in the Online Reader. We also have a guide for the Online Reader available here: Online Reader user guide.
Our latest version of the Online Reader is still under development, so some functionality may be missing. Also any annotations (bookmarks, highlights and notes) made in our old reader unfortunately cannot be migrated across. If you need to make use of any functions from our Legacy Online Reader, or want to access old annotations, you can access the Legacy Online Reader on the same page by selecting the link below the 'Read Online' button that says 'legacy online reader (opens new window)'.
If you experience any difficulty with our Online Reader please first check our Online Reader user guide. If it doesn't answer your question please try our troubleshooter, check our list of Online Reader help articles, or search within the Help Centre for an answer. If you can't find the solution, or get stuck at any point please contact our support team.
If you want to download your ebook instead please see our guide to Reading your ebook.
