If you open your ebook and find the text hard to read there are a couple of different causes.
The first is that if the resolution on your computer monitor is set to a very high resolution then the default text may appear too small. When the letters displayed are small and close together it can make them appear blurry. To fix this please click the plus (+) icon by the search box to zoom in. This makes the Online Reader load a higher resolution version of the page. The load time per page may increase slightly, but the higher resolution will mean the text will appear larger and more readable on your higher resolution screen.
If the issue is still not resolved, then it may be that because your resolution is high, your computer is using scaling to make smaller icons, text and apps appear larger than they are. But this can also cause blurriness. To fix this, you can temporarily remove the scaling.
- For Windows users: Right click on your desktop and select "Display settings". Scroll down to "Scale and layout" and change it to 100%.
- For Mac users: Click the Apple menu, select "System Preferences...", select "Displays", then change the Resolution option from "Scaled" to "Default for display".
Make sure you make a note of what scaling was originally set to, so you can change it back when you are finished reading. Also note that after you have changed your scaling you can still also use the zoom button in the Online Reader to load the higher resolution page if need be.
If neither of the above solutions work, it may be the ebook is a bad scan of an old printed book. If this is the case then unfortunately it may not be possible to obtain a better quality ebook file (generally a printed book is only scanned if digital files do not already exist). But please contact our support team, quoting the title of the ebook (and mention you have tried the above methods). We will contact the publisher just in case there is a chance we can obtain a better quality scan.
